THE SPARK
1. Context
RBC Mobile is one of Canada's leading banking apps, offering a wide range of features from account management to bill payments and money transfers. However, for something as frequent as sending money, users still need to open the app, navigate through multiple screens, and go through several steps before completing a transfer.
But when it came to sending money quickly, I noticed two gaps:
Users had no way to initiate a payment from the home screen without opening and navigating through the full app.
Sending money to someone not in your recipient list required multiple steps with no quick alternative like QR code scanning.

THE DECISION
Designed an iOS widget that sits on the home screen, giving users direct access to send money without opening the app.
Integrated a QR code scanner so users can send money to anyone instantly, no need to save them as a contact first.
Face ID Authentication used Face ID to keep transfers secure with a single glance, replacing passwords and PINs.
