My journey and experience for designing blockspace edtech platform
INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE PROJECT
Blockspace Edtech leverages blockchain to provide a secure, transparent platform for online learning, enabling learners to own their educational journey and employers to instantly verify credentials. It redefines how skills and achievements are recognized, ensuring trust and efficiency in the process.
OBJECTIVE
The goal of Blockspace EdTech was to create a trustworthy and intuitive learning platform that integrates blockchain technology to ensure secure and verifiable certifications. As a UI/UX designer, my focus was on:
✅ Designing a seamless journey for learners, educators, and recruiters.
✅ Building trust through transparency, accessibility, and ease of use.
USER RESEARCH & METHODOLOGES
Before diving into the UI/UX redesign, we conducted both qualitative and quantitative research to gain insights into user behaviors, pain points, and expectations. Our research focused on both users and stakeholders, ensuring a balanced approach to design improvements.
USER INTERVIEWS + AFFINITY MAP
Conducting user interviews was crucial in identifying the needs of digital users across different platforms. We interviewed 5 users, to gather insights on usability challenges and their ideal interface expectations.
Key takeaways from user research:
✅ Users prioritize intuitive navigation and clear information hierarchy.
✅ Users struggle with overloaded UI elements, which hinder workflow efficiency.
✅ Users want aesthetic consistency and responsive design across all devices.
To synthesize this information, we used an affinity diagram to group common pain points and user needs. These findings directly influenced our UX strategy.

Some of the questions asked during the interviews:
How do you currently handle data privacy and security for candidate credentials?
Can you describe an experience where a UI layout frustrated or helped you?
Would a system that automates certificate verification save you time? How?
How would you improve an interface you regularly use?

USER FLOW
We identified a distinct user journey across the site to design and test, reflecting the likely experience of a first-time visitor taking action. This path is guided by stakeholder goals and research insights to ensure a seamless and intuitive experience.

DESIGN TRANSFORMATION FROM SKETCH TO MID FIDELITY
During the design phase, I focused on the iterative process, enjoying the problem-solving journey. I took a progressive approach to wireframing, ensuring the core features were prioritized. I sketched multiple screen designs and drew inspiration from competitors, balancing functionality and innovation to create an intuitive user experience.

I moved from low-fidelity to mid-fidelity designs while testing different elements through A/B testing. Due to time limitations, we embraced an agile approach and had to prioritize either mobile or desktop designs to stay on track.

USABILITY TESTING
We tested the mid-fidelity prototype to compare KPIs and assess the effectiveness of the new design. By gathering insights from participant feedback and behavioral observations, we were able to draw the following conclusions:

ELEVATED THE DESIGN FROM MID-FIDELITY TO HIGH-FIDELITY
Transformed the user experience from mid-fidelity to high-fidelity, enhancing clarity, engagement, and visual appeal.

Ensured prototype was seamless, complete, and free of any interaction issues.

DESIGN PROCESS
We ensured the use of accessible colors, created reusable components to streamline the design process, and developed an interactive prototype of the Blockspace platform.

Designing reusable components: Developed variants for the cards, making it easy to replicate the UI. We also created interactive, clickable variants for the navigation and buttons, ensuring a smooth and intuitive user experience.

Learning and growing throughout this journey
This project gave me the opportunity to apply the UX process for the first time and learn from my mistakes along the way. While I only touched on the basics, I gained a lot of valuable insight into UX/UI design and grew significantly as a designer. I found excitement in the research and testing phases and used my communication skills to translate user feedback into practical solutions. While there's always room for improvement, the positive feedback about the usability of Skip during testing was rewarding. I also learned the importance of iterating and discarding designs, something that was initially challenging for me as someone with a detail-oriented, visual design background. I'm proud of the final solution I created and, as always, eager to continue learning and growing.
